How It Works:
Our site is a glow worm sanctuary built to allow visitors the chance to see glow worms during the daytime, without damaging delicate wild habitats. Because visiting glow worms in the wild often causes damage to their colonies, our cave was built to provide an alternative option to tourists seeking a sustainable, ecofriendly tour experience.
During a tour, one of our biologists will lead you down through our rainforest boardwalk, into our glow worm habitat, and give you the chance to meet a glow-worm up close. Because our site is not a natural area, our glow worm sightings are guaranteed, and each visitors is given the chance to have a much closer interaction than is possible in the wild.
Unlike most wild glow worms, our colony is visible during the daytime, and accessible via a flat, concrete pathway that is accessible for both young and old.
Visiting our site helps protect glow worms in the wild, and supports our conservation program to protect our local Gold Coast glow worms.
Open during the daytime 10 am – 4 pm 7 days a Week
Twilight Tours Every Friday & Saturday 4pm – 6:00pm (Last tour at 6:00pm)
Closed Good Friday and Christmas Day
Bookings are only required for large groups of 10 or more people.

Guidelines for the Tamborine Mountain Glowworm Visit:
It is the aim of the Glow Worm tour staff to ensure the best service possible to all cave visitors, the comfort and safety of everyone in the Glow Worm Cave and the protection of the cave resource so future visitors have an enjoyable experience too. We seek your co-operation in fulfilling these aims and ask that you follow the guidelines listed below.
Photography is not permitted inside the cave!
This includes non-flash photography and video. For the safety of the Glow Worms we ask that there is no photography in the cave. Photography is allowed leading up to and of the cave.
No light up shoes in the cave.
Unfortunately, electronics are not allowed with our Glow Worms.
No loud noises.
Loud noises can cause the glowworms to turn off their glow. When visiting the Glow Worm Cave, and for the enjoyment of everyone, please keep noise levels to a minimum.
While you can always come to the glow worm caves on your own, we also have partnerships with local tour companies if you need transportation up and down the mountain.
